On April 15, Rt Hon Gerry Brownlee, Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives, together with Jonathan Watts,New Zealand's Ambassador to China and his entourage, paid a visit to Chongqing Haifu Technology. After an in-depth briefing on the concept of minimally invasive and noninvasive treatment and clinical applications of focused ultrasound technology, the two sides reached a preliminary consensus on international medical cooperation. The delegation then made a special trip to Chongqing Haifu Hospital.
President Zhang Lian of our hospital gave the delegation a detailed overview of the current clinical application and development prospects of high-intensity focused ultrasound ablation (HIFU), and presented the hospital's 15-year clinical achievements with this technology. The Speaker and Ambassador showed great interest in the therapy, asking detailed technical questions about clinical practice, including treatment duration, hospital stay, anesthesia requirements, and postoperative pain. They highly commended the substantial benefits this non-invasive technology brings to patients, as well as its ability to conserve medical resources.
President Zhang answered all their inquiries thoroughly. He explained that patients may experience mild discomfort on the day of treatment yet recover extremely quickly; most can complete follow-up review and be discharged the next day, greatly cutting medical resource consumption and patients' financial burden.
The delegation paid particular attention to two fields: the protection of female fertility via focused ultrasound ablation, and treatment options for patients with intermediate and advanced pancreatic cancer. They were notably delighted and offered glowing praise upon learning that HIFU can markedly raise pregnancy rates for adenomyosis patients wishing to conceive, and significantly improve quality of life while prolonging survival for people living with advanced pancreatic cancer. They hailed the technology as a groundbreaking, revolutionary medical advancement.
